Making the invisible visible
Making the invisible visible
The type of rock or soil, but also its water saturation, water quality, or its temperature define the electrical resistivity of the ground below our feet. Measuring the dynamic variations of the ground's resistivity can help to better understand the complex processes that are taking place inside the Earth, invisible to the eye.
Geoelectrical monitoring employs a set of electrodes, installed on the surface or along boreholes, to sample the Earth's electrical resistivity at range of locations and depths. Similar to imaging in medicine, tomographic images show where, when, and how the subsurface is changing, providing 4D information on the subsurface conditions. It can provide information at a resolution far superior to what can be achieved with boreholes alone.
We have >10 years experience in designing, installing, and managing geoelectrical monitoring setups, both in remote conditions and within urban spaces. We develop and use cutting-edge processing techniques. Our applications range from landslides and groundwater investigations, over permafrost studies to nuclear waste storage, highlighting the wide range of possible applications.

Services
You need to understand how water flows in the ground, how contaminants are spreading, or where a slope may fail? Geoelectrical monitoring can provide images of the complex processes taking place in the upper few meters below our feet. We can help you to design, install, and manage a geoelectrical monitoring setup.
